The Warlock class to my mind is the quintessential Horde class. Its evil, you deal with demons, and you debuff your enemies using powerful strength sapping spells and curses.

The Warlock is also one of the Horde’s best solo classes for leveling fast, and because of this, I intend to give you a few brief pointers to help you on your way. If you play an Alliance warlock, perhaps its time to consider crossing to the dark side!

Brief pointer 1: The warlock uses pets which are completely dispensable. Most players seem to treat their pet like a real person – they hang around until its almost dead, and then, when its all too late, they flee the combat.

Remember: Warlock pets are dispensable! If you get into trouble, leave your pet behind to his fate, and live to fight another day. If we were to measure the number of hours spent by dead Warlocks running back to their corpse in WoW, I suspect we’d find days worth of leveling wasted over a week because of this fact alone.

Brief pointer 2: The warlock has crowd control spells… but they can come back to haunt you.

Remember: Fear and related spells can be great for a short time fix… but don’t lose sight of that monster. If he flees past friends he’ll bring them along for the ride, and that short term fix you needed earlier will rapidly become a long term death. Get ready to do a corpse run if you use fear without thinking of the consequences.

Brief pointer 3: Warlock pets should be matched to the surrounding circumstances. Are you fighting a raid? Are you solo speed leveling? Are you in a PvP situation?

Remember: You must select the Warlock pet which performs the best in each situation. Do not go into PvP with an Imp. Do not use the succubus to power level solo. Common sense? Yes. Commonly followed sense? No! Do your research & find the best pet for the right occasion!

Hunters are my favorite class to play in the World of Warcraft. They are great a great DPS class and offer some crowd control as well. With a Hunter specced in Beast Mastery you can fight several mobs at once for great solo leveling and grinding. The best part of playing a Hunter is getting a pet. You can get pets or companions with any class but its different with a Hunter’s pet.

Leveling a Hunter is very easy if you know how to do it. Just follow these simple WoW Hunter tips and you’ll see that solo questing has never been easier. There are several different spells you need to make sure to have on your Action Bars, and I’m not talking about your shots. There are several spells that many Hunters don’t take advantage of. The first one is Feign Death, with Feign Death your Hunter will drop down pretending to be dead, this drops all the aggro you have, granted it doesn’t always work, but most of the time it does.

Also note that after you Feign Death your pet will still continue to fight. This is a great spell and I only use it when I’m in a very bad spot that I know I can’t get out of. Another spell that is often overlooked is the Freezing Trap, this trap will freeze the first enemy to approach it, and it lasts different times depending on how you have spent your talent points. Freezing trap is great for Battlegrounds like Warsong Gulch because you can drop a trap on your flag and if an enemy approaches they will then be frozen in ice. This works great for stealth rogues as well. Freezing Trap is also often used in Instances for extra crowd control. Many Hunters often forget about Scare Beast as well, if you are in a bad fight with many mobs while questing this spell can save your life. It will scare the targeted beast mob away much like the Warlock’s Fear spell.

One last little tip for BM Hunters…cast a Mend Pet spell on your pet before sending him into fighting some of the tougher guys and keep it going so your pet is always being healed during the fight. If you do this correctly you will be able to solo many Elite mobs that would normally need a group.

Titansteel Transmutations: Miners will be able to transmute Titansteel Bars every 20 hours. This is a huge gold maker for miners willing to get the materials together. 12 Titansteel bars are needed to create the Mechano-Hog/Mekgineer Chopper motorcycle mount from engineering. As you can imagine these will be in very high demand because who in their right mind doesn’t want to ride around on a 2-person motorcycle!! This will probably be the first thing I farm for. Here are the materials you’ll need to hoard for 1 Titansteel Bar. 1x Eternal Fire 1x Eternal Shadow 1x Eternal Earth 3x Titanium Bar

Every single time the transmute timer is up, you should be making one! Expect the transmuting fee to make these a little higher than usual. Everyone wants their cut.

There are many gold farming spots in World of Warcraft.  Some are good and some aren’t.  It is hard to find a good spot because they are either occupied all the time (especially if you are on a high population server) or they are simply not that valuable.  Many new places to farm have been opened up in Wrath of Lich King (Blizzard’s latest expansion pack).  Blizzard has made a few drastic changes to this expansion pack, the main one being that you can not only receive epic items for large amounts of gold but you can receive a 3 person riding mount (Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth)!  This mount is one of the most sought after items in the game and it costs 20,000 gold!

Do you know long it takes most people to get 20,000 gold in World of Warcraft? A long time! Many people dedicate their lives to try and earn that gold in order to get the Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth.  Many people become so desperate that they will go and buy large amounts of gold with their real money.

Don’t waste your money! There are several good farming spots in World of Warcraft to earn large amounts of gold very quickly!  Knowing where to farm and how to farm is the key!

With that being said, the best way I see to farm gold in Wrath of the Lich King is to have a farming buddy.  I know that many of you will read this and say: “Why have a farming buddy? Then I have to split the profits!” Even though this may seem like the case, I have a couple points to make:

Farming alone has its disadvantages:

1) You will be more likely to get ganked (if you are on a pvp server).

2) You will not be able to compete with killing mobs as well.

3) You are very limited and have to spend a lot of time drinking (if you are a mana user) and have to be careful not to die.  You also can’t gather as many mobs as you could if you had a farming buddy with you.

4) It’s not as fun doing it alone!

With the methods that I teach in my guide you can easily earn your Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth after roughly 10 to 15 hours of farming!  Are you able to say that you can earn 20,000 gold in 10 to 15 hours? Do all of your buddies have tons of money on WoW, while you’re left struggling to make anything? Are you in the higher levels, but find your gold few and far between? Or do you just want more gold, so you are the envy of all your friends?

There are a few hints for low levels, level 15-35, and even some higher levels below. You even grind with a few, meaning you level up as you’re raking in the gold.

How Low Levels Make Gold

If you’re character is just starting out, a little gold will go a long way. Taking up a profession is the first thing you should do – my personal favorite money maker is to take up either mining or herbalism along with skinning. Other players will pay quite a bit for these materials at the auction house.

With skinning be sure you kill everything that you can skin, and skin it all. The more you do it, the better you become. Any dead bodies of animals that haven’t been skinned you should skin.

Taking up first aid and fishing will help, too. Sell anything you don’t want, or don’t need – auction houses are great place to do just that, too, because things will sell better at an auction house then a vender (A lot better if you’re on a good server).

Middle Levels Makin’ Money

There’s a great place in Northwestern Westfall, along the cliff near a lone windmill with a tiny shack that’s perfect for grinding and grabbing stuff to sell. If you’re a tailor, this place could be your dream!

Although it’s best if you’re over level twenty two, you can go there at a lower level and do some serious grinding. There’s about six or seven Defias mobs, ranging from level 12 to 13, and almost all of them drop linen. What makes this place great is they re-spawn super fast, so you can just keep killing them.

Linen cloths can be made into bolts of linen, which can sell for quite at some auction houses, or you can turn the bolts into clothing, and sell that for a good bit. You get a great deal of experience, and for just a little work. The average linen drop is about 200-300 an hour, depending on the server and character level.

Up, Up, And Away!

For higher levels, a decent place to go is the Bad Lands. The rock elementals will sometimes drop Elemental Earth, which can sell for about 1g each – it’s easy to get 10 in one hour. They’re about level 37, so you can also gain a few levels while making money.

For high levels, head to Felwood, which is east of Darkshore. Withered Protectors and Warpwood shredders are found here – the protectors have a 5-10% chance of dropping major healing potions, which can sell for about 1g at most auction houses. They also drop high-level herbs that sell for up to 10g for a stack of twenty – this place is great for both leveling up, and making money.

Note: Gold, silver, and copper should always be made legally on WoW, and should never violate the EULA. Buying gold is one violation, and is never, ever acceptable.

All in all it’s a robust package with a hefty amount of material to consider. There are class or faction specific methods so it will take you a while to get through it. It definitely lot but it’s nice to know that it’s there when you finally need it.

Here’s a brief description of each guide and manual:

Gold Secrets – At 325 pages this is the heart of the package. It definitely covers a lot of ground and shows you a ton of different ways to make gold. It is organized in the order of each game release; WoW -> BC -> WotLK. The Daily Quests chapters are great and are done explained in detail. As of this writing the chapter count is at 211, but each chapter provides several ways of making gold within each of these tasks. For instance, the Fiery Enchant/Quest Rewards chapter not only shows you what to do, but also provides multiple ways of getting the pearls as well as how to profit off the extra pearls if you decide to get them. It’s actually 2 ways of earning gold in one chapter. All of the chapters I read are like this, which adds tons of value. My only grievance is that it should have come with a ‘new WoW gamers’ section instead of having to fumble around for the beginners methods.

The Profit Chart – This chart basically tells you where to find mobs and what they drop. This addition will really help to save time. I really like the fact that it shows the level range you need to get it done. Something similar should have been included in the main Gold Secrets guide.

The Auctioneer’s Resource – Very much a necessary skill if you plan on making a lot of gold. It’s the old ‘buy low sell high’ principle in the Auction House. There are some key indicators that make an item valuable at any given time, and it’s detailed here. It’s a good addition but frankly I’ve seen better auction guides out there.

Fishing Facts Manual – Now this is what you call a fishing guide. This is comprehensive stuff. It provides a clear explanation of what special number number of skill points you need above your base skill points to really make things happen with fishing. It provides great lists and tables with a lot of important information that will drastically cut your learning curve. It’s split by faction; Horde and Alliance. In my opinion the best organized and detailed manual in the package.

Twinking Profits – Nice little guide, only 6 pages but covers pretty much what you need to know to profit from twinks. It explains how the market works for twinks and then gives a great list of the most wanted twink items. Short but sweet. Full of very valuable info.

All in all this is quite a nice package of gold making material. I hope this enlightens you a bit on what Luke Brown’s Gold Secrets Guide is all about. As I said, my primary gripe is with the Gold Secrets main guide, although very comprehensive and full of valuable information, I would have preferred that it was better organized, more along the fashion of the Fishing Manual.

There are other quality gold guides out there, Valkor’s Gold Guide and WoW Tycoon come immediately to mind and are worthy of your research. Nonetheless, Luke Brown’s Gold Secrets is definitely a quality guide and I do recommend it. As with anything, make sure you do your own independent research.
